Corpse Pose

Savasana

The final relaxation pose. Lying still lets your body absorb the practice and your breath return to normal.

Recommended hold: 3 min

How to do it

  1. 1

Lie on your back with your legs straight and slightly apart.

  2. 2

Let your feet fall open naturally.

  3. 3

Rest your arms a little away from your body, palms facing up.

  4. 4

Tuck your shoulder blades slightly under you so your chest feels open.

  5. 5

Close your eyes and let your whole body become heavy.

  6. 6

Stay still. When the timer ends, roll onto your right side before slowly sitting up.

Breathing

Let your breath be natural. There is nothing to control — simply notice it.

Common mistakes

  • Skipping it or rushing to get up.
  • Holding tension in the jaw, hands or shoulders.

Beginner modifications

  • Place a pillow or rolled blanket under your knees to ease the lower back.
  • Cover yourself with a blanket so you stay warm.

Safety precautions

  • If you are pregnant (especially after the first trimester), lie on your left side instead of your back.
